Overview
This Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) course is designed to help those who work with vulnerable adults increase their knowledge on such an important subject. Safeguarding adults is everyone’s responsibility and having a thorough understanding of the process is invaluable to you, your business and the vulnerable adults you know. This safeguarding adults training aims to help you identify the signs of potential abuse and understand what to do with your concerns.
Candidates will undertake an online multiple-choice assessment and will receive a certificate if successful (any certificates from an official awarding body are sent to you via email).

Introduction
This section gives you a basic understanding of safeguarding where a vulnerable adult is concerned. It also covers the policies that the government has put in to place.

The Care Act 2014
In this section, we discuss how the law that underpins adult safeguarding has evolved and culminated in the Care Act 2014.

Vulnerable Adults and Abuse
This section looks at the different types of harm and abuse that a vulnerable adult could be subjected to. It demonstrates the type of categories of people at risk may be placed in.

Signs and Indicators of Abuse
This section looks at when you suspect incidents of abuse or have a feeling that abuse is taking place or following a pattern. You will also look at signs and indicators of abuse and types of abuse.

Responding and Referral
This unit is broken down so two chapters will take place. The first chapter will look at how you should respond if you suspect abuse. How you may find out that abuse is taking place. Scenarios are also given to help support you on situations you potentially may come across. Whistle blowing in an organisation is also covered.

Reporting
The second part of section four looks at how you record your concerns. How you would report your concerns and what is needed when making a referral.

Case Examples and Recap
This section gives examples of potential situations you may come across in the form of case studies. This section also recaps across the course content.
Obtaining your certificate
You will need to pass a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course in order to gain your accreditation. Once passed, we will send your official certificate by email.
